Professor Juliet Gerrard trained at Oxford University, where she completed an Honours degree in Chemistry and a DPhil in Biological Chemistry. She has over 135 publications and has just completed a Callaghan Innovation Industry and Outreach Fellowship. She is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand, serves on the Board of Directors of Plant and Food Research and Chairs the Royal Society of New Zealand Marsden Fund Council.
