Biography

Garima Sharma achieved a distinction in Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women’s University in Mumbai, India. She then came to London and completed a MSc in Drug Delivery with distinction at the UCL School of Pharmacy, during which time she developed an interest in research.... read moreCurrently, Garima is competing her PhD at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, under the supervision of Professor Sir Peng Khaw and Professor Steve Brocchini. Her PhD is focused on studying conjunctival scarring after glaucoma surgery, and she has developed a novel in vitro model to study the role of inflammation on wound healing. This model can be used to examine how macrophages drive wound contraction after surgery, and also to test the efficacy of different treatments.
