Janet Cox-Singh is an academic research scientist. She completed her doctoral research on malaria at the Liverpool School of Tropical in 1987. The recurrent theme in her research is to harness new technologies to answer questions on this important disease. From Liverpool she moved to peninsular Malaysia and used molecular... read moreepidemiology tools to follow the emergence and spread of antimalarial drug resistance in Plasmodium falciparum. In 1999 she relocated to Malaysian Borneo and was part of the team who discovered that Plasmodium knowlesi, a malaria parasite of Southeast Asian macaque monkeys, had entered the human population. In 2008 she returned to the United Kingdom to continue her work on the pathophysiology of zoonotic malaria. She is currently a Senior Lecturer in Infection at the School of Medicine, University of St Andrews.
