Biography
Wayne C. Koff is an internationally recognized leader in AIDS vaccine research and development. He oversees the... read moreInternational AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI) programs in AIDS vaccine research, discovery and development. Prior to joining IAVI, Wayne served between 1992 and 1998 as vice president, Vaccine Research and Development at United Biomedical, Inc., where he was responsible for the vaccine R&D program. During his tenure, the company conducted the first AIDS vaccine trials in Brazil, China and Thailand. From 1988-1992, Wayne served as chief of the Vaccine Research and Development Branch, Division of AIDS, at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases of the US National Institutes of Health, where he helped establish the AIDS vaccine development program. An adjunct professor in the Department of Microbiology at the State University of New York, Stony Brook, Wayne has published more than 100 scientific papers and edited seven books on vaccine development. He received his Ph.D. from Baylor College of Medicine.
