Walter Bodmer is head of the CRUK Cancer and Immunogenetics Laboratory at the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, University of Oxford. He was a prime mover in promoting the Human Genome Project and the second President of the Human Genome Organisation, HUGO. His book with Luca Cavalli-Sforza, on Human Population Genetics, first published in 1971, is now considered a classic.
