During this time, she also initiated the Government’s International 3Rs Programme (Replacement, Reduction and Refinement). Prior to joining the Home Office in 2007, she was Vice-President of Worldwide Comparative Medicine with Pfizer Global R&D based in Groton, Connecticut. She has also held a number of advisory roles related to the strategic planning and funding of research including serving on the Board of the Biotechnology & Biological Sciences Research Council. Following her retirement from the Home Office in 2016, Judy continues to apply her expertise in developing meaningful international policies which will deliver economic, scientific and animal welfare gains. She supports a science-led approach to the 3Rs in animal research and continues to lead the UK Government’s Programme to promote the 3Rs in science globally.
