Dr Vivek Lal completed his M.B.B.S. in 1990 and his post-graduate M.D. Pharmacology in 1999 from the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, India. He is currently working as an Associate Professor of Pharmacology at the College of Medicine, King Faisal University, Al Ahsa, Saudi Arabia. In addition to a vast... read moreteaching experience spanning 18 years, Dr Lal is also a senior medical administrator and a drug researcher, involving both experimental Pharmacology as well as Clinical Research. He has worked in 200-700 bedded multi-specialty hospitals on different positions with extensive multi-tasking. His clinical experience includes high altitude medicine, advanced trauma care and advanced life support. He has been instrumental in initiating a mammoth research project at Pune, India, related to poisoning and envenomation management and creation of a poison registry for the Indian Armed Forces.
Dr Lal has special research interests in Cardiovascular pharmacology as well as the management of Type-2 Diabetes Mellitus. He has recently conducted a workshop in Brisbane, Australia, directed at identifying novel targets in the management of T2DM. He has also been directly involved in implementing the concept of pre-hospital thrombolysis in STEMI, on the lines of telemedicine being implemented in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Dr Lal is also an expert consultant on numerous online consultation platforms globally, so also for established research institutions. He is also an editor and reviewer for numerous international medical journals. Dr Lal is a medical teacher par excellence with hands on experience in teaching Pharmacology and Toxicology to medical and nursing students, para medical staff and pharmaceutical executives, as per traditional as well as PBL curricula. He is specifically interested in implementing simulation techniques in medical education, especially in experimental Pharmacology for medical undergraduates.
