Biography

Dr. Connie Mulligan received her Ph.D. in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University and held postdoctoral fellowship positions at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute in Panamá, the Smithsonian Conservation Analytical Laboratory in Suitland, MD and the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism in Rockville, MD. Presently at the... read moreUniversity of Florida, she is a Professor and Associate Chair for the Department of Anthropology and an Associate Director for the University of Florida Genetics Institute. Dr. Mulligan has served on the NSF Physical Anthropology Senior Grants Panel and is an Associate Editor for Molecular Biology and Evolution. She is interested in understanding the basis of patterns of human genetic variation. Her lab analyzes genetic variation in order to reconstruct the evolutionary history and relationships of human populations and to investigate the genetic, epigenetic, and sociocultural risk factors for human disease. Her lab focuses on populations from around the world with an emphasis on Africa, Arabia, East Asian groups and the New World. Her research is currently funded by grants from NSF, NIH and internal UF awards.
