Biography

Bernard E. Rollin is a University Distinguished Professor of Philosophy, Animal Sciences, and Biomedical Sciences and University Bioethicist at Colorado State University. Rollin is the author of 20 books and 500+ papers, and has lectured all over the world on animal ethics, animal research, animal pain, animal consciousness and other... read moretopics in bioethics. His best-known books are Animal Rights and Human Morality (1981)), currently in ins third edition;The Unheeded Cry:Animal Consciousness, Animal Pain and Science; and The Frankenstein Syndrome: Ethical and Social Issues in the Genetic Engineering of Animals. Rollin is the "father of veterinary ethics" and a principal architect of US Federal Law for protection of Laboratory Animals.
