Biography

Huaiyu Mi is an assistant professor of research in the Division of Bioinformatics, Department of Preventive Medicine of Keck Medical School of University of Southern California. He received his medical degree in medicine from Shanghai Medical University, Shanghai, China, and his Ph.D. degree in molecular and cellular physiology from Stanford... read moreUniversity, California, USA. In 2000, he joined Celera Genomics and was involved in the first human genome sequencing project. In Celera, he managed the development of PANTHER Classification System, and led the development of PANTHER Pathway. In 2006, he joined the SRI International and started his contribution to the SBGN effort. He was the main author of the Level 1 SBGN Activity Flow specification, which was released in 2009. In 2011, he joined Keck Medical School of USC. In addition to his work on PANTHER and SBGN, he started to be involved in the development of Gene Ontology. He is currently a member on both SBGN Editorial Board and BioPAX Editorial Board.
