Diana M Eccles is Professor of Cancer Genetics and Deputy Head of the Cancer Sciences Academic Unit in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Southampton, and Honorary Consultant in Clinical Genetics in the Wessex Regional Genetics Service. She trained in general medicine, oncology and genetics in Manchester, Edinburgh and Southampton... read moreand took up her first consultant post in Southampton in 1995. She was elected Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 1996. Her main clinical and research interest is in the impact of inherited genetic factors on diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cancer. She has published over 230 papers in peer reviewed journals and written 14 book chapters giving her an H-index of 50. She regularly sits on national and international grant review boards including currently the MRC CRTF Board, the Norway Research Council Board and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation grant review panel. She gives invited lectures at research and education conferences nationally and internationally and is often a member of faculty for the European School of Oncology European School of Medical Oncology educational sessions.
