Biography

Nicola Brunetti-Pierri graduated in Medicine from Federico II University of Naples, Italy. After his residency in Pediatrics at Federico II University of Naples, he moved to the USA for a post-doctoral research fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX. He continued his clinical training in medical genetics and biochemical... read moregenetics at Baylor College of Medicine and in 2007 he was appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Human and Molecular Genetics of Baylor College of Medicine. In 2010, he moved back to Italy with a joint appointment at Federico II University of Naples and at the Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medicine (TIGEM), Naples. He is currently an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Federico II University and an Associate Investigator at TIGEM. He received awards as young investigator of the European Society of Gene and Cell Therapy and the outstanding new investigator award of the American Society of Gene and Cell Therapy. As a pediatrician and geneticist, Dr. Brunetti-Pierri studies genetic diseases and inborn errors of metabolism and his research is focused at developing novel therapies for these disorders.
