Dr. Mariah Lelos earned her PhD at Cardiff University in 2010, studying the impact of amyloid proteins on emotional memory and neural network activity in a model of Alzheimer’s. Post-doctoral research was conducted in Prof Steve Dunnett’s laboratory, studying the impact of fetal and stem cell therapies in models of... read moreHuntington’s and Parkinson’s. Dr. Lelos was then awarded the 2015 Senior Research Fellowship from Parkinson’s UK to study how stem cell therapies influence cognitive function in models of Parkinson’s.
In 2018, Dr. Lelos commenced a Senior Lectureship/Associate Professorship in the School of Biosciences, Cardiff University, where she now co-directs the Brain Repair Group with Prof. Anne Rosser. Her work focuses on understanding the neural network changes and endophenotypes that lead to the manifestation of cognitive dysfunction in neurodegenerative diseases, as well as exploring the impact of novel cell and gene therapies on these aspects of behaviour.
