Biography

Mario Masellis, MD, has a Masters of Science in Pharmacology with a specialization in the rapidly developing field of Neuropsychopharmacogenetics. He trained under both Professor Werner Kalow, considered one of the "Fathers of Pharmacogenetics", and Professor James L. Kennedy, an internationally recognized psychiatric geneticist. Dr. Masellis is currently Physician and... read moreResearch Associate at the Division of Neurology, Department of Medicine, Sunnybrook and Women's College Health Sciences Centre, University of Toronto. Dr. Masellis has published extensively in the field of pharmacogenetics of antipsychotic drug response and adverse effects and has significantly advanced the field with his work. He completed his medical training at the University of Toronto and is currently an aspiring clinician-scientist in Neurology with an interest in Cognitive Neurology and Neuropsychiatry. The ultimate goal of his research is the clinical application of pharmacogenetics to the improvement of pharmacotherapy in those suffering from these devastating brain diseases.
