Antonia Vlahou is group leader and co-Director of the Proteomics Research Unit at Biomedical Research Foundation, Academy of Athens, Greece. She has worked extensively on the investigation of bladder cancer by the use of a combination of non-targeted (mass spectrometry-based) and targeted (immunoassays-Elisa) proteomics methodologies. She is highly cited for... read moreher work especially on urine analysis as applied to the investigation of bladder cancer biomarkers, pioneered the application of mass spectrometry-based profiling approaches for clinical applications and also serves as an external expert for advice on biomarker qualification by the European Medicine Agency. Dr Vlahou has coordinated the European Kidney and Urine Proteomics COST Action (2008-2012) targeting among others development of standardized approaches in biomarker development. She is actively involved in several European collaborative projects including FP7 DECanBio (2008-2012), Neurinox (2012-2016), Marie Curie IAPP Protoclin (2010-2014), Marie Curie BCMolMed (2012-2016) and others.
