Biography

Steffen Jung undertook his higher education at the Universities of Bonn and Cologne (Germany), where he earned his MSc (1989) and PhD (1992) degrees in Immunology. From 1992 to 1997, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Lautenberg Center in the Hebrew University, Jerusalem. He then continued his postdoctoral studies... read moreat the Skirball Institute for Molecular Pathogenesis NYU Medical Center. In 2002, he returned to Israel and joined the Weizmann Institute of Science's Department of Immunology where he was appointed Associate Professor in 2009. Steffen's interests are the contributions of specific macrophage and dendritic cell populations in maintaining health and managing injury and infection. His lab currently focuses on the gastrointestinal tract and the brain microglia.
