Biography

Achim Zielesny holds a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from the University of Cologne, Germany. From 1991 to 1994 he was employed at the University of Cologne as a scientific assistant. Since 2001, he is a Professor of Chemistry, Chemoinformatics, and Bioinformatics at the University of Applied Sciences, Gelsenkirchen, Section Recklinghausen, Germany. In 2004 Achim founded a company for scientific computing solutions in Oer-Erkenschwick, Germany. He is the chairman of the board of the Institute for Bio- and Che-moinformatics at the University of Applied Sciences Gelsenkirchen and since 2005 a board member of the section Chemistry-Information-Computer (CIC) of the German Chemical Society. Achim's scientific projects mainly address chemoinformatics related software development for chemical information, machine learning (QSAR/QSPR) and molecular simulation.
