Biography

Ann Jacoby is Professor of Medical Sociology in the Department of Health Inequalities and the Social Determinants of Health, at the University of Liverpool, UK. She has an international reputation for her work on the quality of life aspects of epilepsy, including epilepsy stigma, and has published widely on it.... read moreProfessor Jacoby has held substantial grants from the UK Medical Research Council (MRC), UK Department of Health (National Institute for Health Research) and US National Institutes of Health, as well as a number of UK-based research charities. In 1999, she was received the lifetime award of International Ambassador for Epilepsy by the International Bureau for/International League Against Epilepsy, for her contributions to the field. In 2010, she was given the Lord Hastings Award by the UK Charity, Epilepsy Action, for her services to people with epilepsy.
