Biography

Diane Lipscombe is a Professor of Neuroscience at Brown University. She directs a NIH funded research laboratory and teaches undergraduate and graduate students. Diane graduated from University College London with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacology. She investigated the pharmacology and characterized single ion channel properties of neuronal nicotinic receptors. As a postdoctoral associate Diane worked at the Yale School of Medicine with Richard W. Tsien on voltage-gated calcium ion channels. Diane's current area of research is alternative splicing of neuronal calcium ion channels. She and her research have special interest in the role of splice isoforms in the development of disease and their potential as novel therapeutic targets.
