Dr John Baillie, B.Sc. (Hons), M.B., Ch.B., F.R.C.P., F.A.C.G., FASGE is Professor of Medicine at Wake Forest University Health Sciences, Winston-Salem, North Carolina USA. Dr Baillie is a 1977 graduate of Glasgow University School of Medicine, Glasgow, Scotland. From 1984-88, he received advanced training in therapeutic endoscopy at the Middlesex and University College Hospitals, London, England, where he developed particular interest in diseases of the biliary tree and pancreas. In 1988, he returned to the USA at Associate Director of Endoscopy at Duke University Medical Center (DUMC), Durham, North Carolina. From 1994-2005 he was Director of the Biliary and Pancreatic Disorders Service at DUMC. In 2005, Dr Baillie moved to Wake Forest University Health Sciences Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Dr Baillie has published and lectured extensively on therapeutic endoscopy, especially ERCP. He has been the recipient of Master Endoscopist (2001) and Distinguished Educator (2007) Awards from the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE).
