Biography

Scott Weaver is Professor of Pathology and Director of the Institute for Human Infections and Immunity at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) as well as Scientific Director of the Galveston National Laboratory. Prof. Weaver received his undergraduate training at the College of William and Mary, where he studied... read morebiology and music, and his M.S. in entomology at Cornell University. After earning his Ph.D. in virology at the University of California, San Diego, he joined the UTMB faculty in the Department of Pathology in 1994. His research has focused on the ecology, evolution and pathogenesis of arthropod-borne viruses as well as on virus-vector interactions and vaccine development.
