Biography

Michael Mol is a Dutch national and holds a PhD degree from Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. He has taught, researched and studied at nine universities in five countries. His work has been funded by, among others, Siemens, the Carnegie Bosch Institute, the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports,... read moreScience & Technology, and the UK Advanced Institute of Management Research. His teaching and research focuses on the strategic management of larger firms, with particular interests in outsourcing strategy and management innovation. Michael has advised a range of private and public organizations on these issues, including the United Nations and the UK's Department of Innovation, Universities and Skills. Michael speaks in business conferences across Europe and also engages in executive education activities. He has published widely in practice oriented journals like MIT Sloan Management Review, European Business Forum, and Academy of Management Perspectives and academic outlets. Michael has (co-)authored four books including the recent Outsourcing: Design, Process and Performance (Cambridge University Press) and Giant Steps in Management: Innovations that Change the Way we Work (FT Prentice Hall). He is cited regularly as an outsourcing and management innovation expert by the Financial Times and other newspapers. He has won several awards including the very prestigious best article award from Academy of Management Review.
