Russell Hepple completed his PhD at the University of Toronto with Dr. Michael Plyley and postdoctoral training with Dr. Odile Mathieu-Costello and Dr. Peter Wagner at the University of California, San Diego, before establishing his own lab at the University of Calgary. Dr. Hepple is interested in the mechanisms underlying... read moreage-related muscle atrophy and dysfunction and the role that mitochondrial dysfunction plays in these responses. He is fundamentally interested in identifying therapeutic strategies for attenuating these changes with aging and to this end is currently focusing upon long term caloric restriction and regular aerobic exercise as models for healthy muscle aging.
