Biography

John Benington is Emeritus Professor in Public Management & Policy at WBS at the University of Warwick. He has 20 years experience of research, development and consultancy work with the UK government (with Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, and senior civil servants in the Cabinet Office, the Home Office, the Treasury, Communities... read moreand Local Government, the Department for International Development and others), and also with large numbers of local authorities, health authorities, and police and fire authorities across the UK. He has also advised governments in South Africa, Sierra Leone and southern Sudan on programmes of leadership, management development and organizational and cultural change. He is national chair of the Local Authorities Research Council Initiative (LARCI), a non executive member of the Board of the National School of Government. He is a member of the editorial board for the journal Leadership, the International Journal of Public Administration, and the magazine Public Finance. His current research interests and publications focus on networked governance, public value and leadership of adaptive change.
