Howard Cedar is a Professor in the Department of Cellular Biochemistry at Hebrew University/Hadassah Medical School. He received his PhD from New York University in 1970 and from 1971 to 1973 was a Research Associate at the NIH. He has been associated with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem since 1973.... read moreDr. Cedar, recipient of the first ICRF Professorship, which he has held since 1987, as well as The Israel Prize in Biology, Israel's highest civilian honor, is world renowned for his pioneering research in DNA methylation, a molecular process that turns genes on and off. He was awarded the 2008 Wolf Prize in Medicine along with Prof. Aharon Razin, for their fundamental contributions to the control of gene expression and cancer research.
