David Speert is Sauder Family Professor and Head of the Division of Infectious and Immunological Diseases, Department of Pediatrics, University of British Columbia and Head of the Centre for Infectious and Inflammatory Diseases, Child and Family Research Institute. After training in pediatrics at the University of Michigan and pediatric infectious diseases at the University of Minnesota (under the guidance of Dr. Lewis Wannamaker) he assumed a faculty position at the University of British Columbia in 1980 where he has remained since that time. His research interests are in microbe-host interactions, innate immunity in children and international child health.
