Dr. Larissa Nelson is an experienced anatomy educator whose academic background includes a degree in Anatomy and a PhD from Cardiff University, focusing on the regenerative potential of cartilage stem cells in osteoarthritic cartilage repair. After... read morebeginning her academic career teaching anatomy at the University of South Wales and then Swansea University, Dr. Nelson joined Cardiff University, where she has become a key member of the teaching team at the Wales Centre for Anatomical Education (WCAE). Since 2015, she has led Dental Anatomy at Cardiff University while also contributing extensively to the teaching of anatomy across medicine, dentistry, and the biosciences. Her commitment to student education and academic excellence was recognised in 2026 when she received the Vice-Chancellor’s Award at Cardiff University’s Enriching Student Life Awards. Dr. Nelson is a Senior Fellow of Advance HE and a member of the Anatomical Society. She is passionate about anatomy education and continues to play a significant role in developing innovative and engaging learning experiences for healthcare and science students.
