Greg Gibson has been adopting various gene expression profiling approaches for studies motivated by evolutionary biology for over a decade. His group was one of the first to use microarrays to quantitatively contrast the joint impacts of genetics, environment, and sex on gene expression in the fruitfly, Drosophila. Further work... read moreon flies has explored the non-additivity of transcription, mapping quantitative traits at the level of transcript abundance, and profiling the effects of mutants on physiology and development. He has also published studies on organisms as diverse as hookworms and red wolves, and is now tackling various issues relating to the evolution of disease susceptibility in humans.
