Biography

Allen W. Burton is the Chair-ad-Interim of the Department of Pain Medicine and Professor of Pain Medicine at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he has practiced and led the pain program since 2000. He is the President of the Texas Pain Society and is an active... read moremember of numerous pain societies, including serving on the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Pain Medicine, the North American Neuromodulation Society, and the National Chronic Pain Society. Dr. Burton obtained his BSc at the University of Notre Dame, Medical Doctorate at Baylor College of Medicine, and completed his anesthesiology residency at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School serving as the Chief Resident. He has lectured and presented abstracts at numerous national and international meetings. Dr. Burton has received numerous awards for teaching and research including the B.Braun/American Society of Regional Anesthesiology Fellow in Pain Management research award and the Best Doctors in America designation for 2005. His practice includes the use of pharmacologic and interventional pain management techniques including neuromodulation, neurolytic blocks and vertebro/kyphoplasty.
