Following a brief spell in the media department at CPV, Jim chose to pursue a career in advertising and joined Y&R as Media Trainee in 1973. Jim progressed through television buying initially working on Heinz, Procter & Gamble and Wrigleys. In 1980 Jim was appointed TV Buying Manager and in... read more1983 Associate Media Director and promoted to the Board. In 1984, he joined Reeves Robertshaw Needham as Media Director. In 1986 he was promoted to Deputy Managing Director while still retaining responsibility for media. In January 1988, he joined DMB&B as Deputy Media Director. He was then appointed Chief Executive of MediaVest UK, which changed its name from The Media Center as part of DMB&B/MacManus’s new worldwide media company. MediaVest has now become Starcom MediaVest, as part of Starcom Worldwide, which is owned by Publicis. Jim has now been appointed Chairman of the Starcom UK Group which comprises Starcom, Starcom MediaVest, Starcom Direct and MediaVest Manchester. Jim has also been part of the IPA’s Media Futures Group (MFG) for a number of years, the last three as Chairman.
