Hello, I'm Pietro Micheli. I'm a Professor of Business Performance and Innovation at Warwick Business School in the UK. Welcome to the series of talks on Performance Management. The first talk today is going to be about how to translate strategy into action. Before we introduce the content, I'd like to just do a brief introduction of myself, and then also look at what these talks will entail.

I'm a professor at Warwick, and I've been here since 2012. I'm also the Course Director of the Distance Learning MBA, which has been ranked number one in the world by the Financial Times from 2018-2022. My background is management and engineering, I was not particularly good at engineering, so I did my PhD in management, and I specialised in performance management. Before coming to Warwick, I was at Cranfield University also in the UK, at the Centre for Business Performance, where I'm still a visiting professor, and I was also a researcher for the Advanced Institute of Management in London. I also worked as a director of a government agency in my home country in Italy, I was the Director of the Italian Commission for public sector evaluation in the period from late 2009-2011. I've been working as a researcher and consultant in three main areas. One, very much connected to this series of talks, so how would we measure and manage performance in organizations? But also looking at how organizations create and implement strategy and finally, themes around innovation management, design thinking, agile, lean startup, and digital transformation.
