Hi, I'm Dr. Ravinder Singh.
I'm Head of Digital and
Technology Systems team
within Cabinet Office, and
government Commercial Function.
My team is working
across government,
advising government on AI
machine learning, blockchain,
quantum computing, IoT,
and other technologies,
as well as government
commercial college.
So today's talk, which I
have, is on blockchain,
which probably everyone
sees around Bitcoin,
but this is beyond Bitcoin,
and we are seeing how we
can revolutionize trust,
transparency, and scalable
digital ecosystem.

What are the emerging
technologies?
So, just to give you an
idea just don't think that
AI and machine learning is the
only new emerging technology.
All these technologies are
emerging technologies,
from AI and machine
learning to generative AI,
Internet of Things,
Low Code, Blockchain.
There are a number of
things that are going on
and depending on the area
which you are working on.
But today, I will focus
mainly on blockchain
that how it is going to impact
various industries
and other things.

The first thing on blockchain,
it's not just about
cryptocurrency,
which people have
mistaken it to be,
Oh, this is a bitcoin,
this is a bitcoin,
this is a bitcoin.
Everyone says that, but
no, this is beyond that.
And the foundation was
distributed ledger technology.
That the ledger in
the organizations,
they are distributed
ledgers like treasuries,
banks, and others;
they have ledgers.
Why do they have to do that?
We are moving from a value
protocol to a trust protocol.
That is where the
blockchain comes in.
It is kind of a thing,
you can imagine,
if I have to explain
in very simple terms.
What is a blockchain?
Blockchain is building a trust,
a tamper-proof environment
for digital interaction,
which means if you have to
give 100 rupees or 100 pounds,
100 dollars to someone
as a loan or something,
what does it take?
Basically, it takes
trust, of yours,
or somebody in the middle
who is talking to you.
That somebody is asking, I
need $1000 for this person,
and you give trust because
you trust the middleman.
Or you know the person directly,
you give that money to him.
