Jessica Briffa obtained her Bachelor of Biomedical Science with Honours in 2012 from Victoria University. She was then awarded her PhD in 2015 from the University Melbourne where she investigated the role of leptin in kidney development and in the pathogenesis of kidney disease. She is now a postdoctoral research... read morefellow in Associate Professor Kelly Smith’s laboratory in the Department of Anatomy and Physiology at the University of Melbourne. Her research interest is in understanding the role the placenta plays in the development of pregnancy complications: seeking to identify novel genetic regulators of implantation and placentation, and in developing novel therapeutics prevent/treat pregnancy complications.
