S.P. Banumathy, a student of Madurai Medical College, obtained MBBS degree in 1966, MS degree in Anatomy in 1973 & PhD degree in 1991 from Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai. She had been a Visiting Professor at Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai & at Devadoss Multispeciality Hospital, Madurai. She is the author of the book ‘Anatomy of the Eye’, published by the Aravind Eye Hospitals. She had been one of the members of the Editorial Board for the book ‘Gray’s Anatomy for Students’. She is the recipient of ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ from The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai. At present, she gives online lectures in Conferences & Medical Education Programmes.
