Prof. Ying-Xian Pan Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, USA

Ying-Xian Pan is a molecular neuroscientist whose research interests focus on G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs), particularly the mu opioid receptors that mediate the actions of most clinically used mu opioids, such as morphine and fentanyl, as well as heroin. Dr. Pan received his medical degree in 1982 from Shanghai University of Traditional Medicine, in China. He received his PhD degree in molecular biology and biochemistry in 1993 from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. After completing a postdoctoral fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, he joined the faculty of the Department of Neurology in 1999 and became a full Member (Professor equivalent) in 2013. Dr. Pan then moved to the Department of Anaesthesiology at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School as a Professor in 2020.
