Abstract
Within South Africa and on the African continent, the various reports of the KING Committees on Corporate Governance have become guiding principles for organisations in both the public and private sector. This paper focuses on the KING IV report and discusses its relevance to the different but interrelated fields of business continuity, organisational resilience and risk management. The paper suggests that organisations seeking to comply with KING IV will need to familiarise themselves with ISO 22301 and the BCI Good Practice Guidelines, as well as ISO 31000.

Author's Biography
Clifford S. Ferguson is Director of Strategy and Policy at the South African Government Pensions Administration Agency. He is a former Chairperson of the Business Continuity Institute (BCI) Gauteng Forum and was Director of the BCI Southern African Developing Countries chapter from 2015 to 2019. At the 2014 BCI Africa Awards, he was named Manager of the Year — Public Service; he was also nominated for the BCI global award in the same category. As the author of the period model for resilience, he has written numerous articles and presented papers at various national and international conferences.
