Projects are temporary endeavors that deliver a unique product, service, or result. Projects have a defined beginning and an end, and they can be tangible or intangible.

We all manage projects. A report or assignment is a project. Science experiments, purchasing a home, planning a wedding, delivering enterprise software, and designing a new commercial airliner are all projects.

Project management involves applying skills, tools, and practices to deliver value and achieve the desired results subject to constraints. Scope, schedule, and cost are the classic triple constraints—and there are others.

This series introduces fundamental project management principles and skills. The contributors are experienced project management professionals with years of collective experience and have delivered thousands of projects. They have also dedicated themselves to teaching and helping others manage projects better and further their careers.

The series begins with learning standard concepts and terminology, creating a shared understanding baseline. We then describe the steps for initiating and planning a project, which form the foundation for success. The modules on project execution and risk management are day-to-day activities used to keep the project on track. Two talks are dedicated to real-life industry case studies in construction and managing international projects.
