Biography

Prof. Pamela Lutsey is an epidemiologist whose mission is to identify potentially changeable factors that influence risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and other chronic conditions. Areas of particular interest include nutritional biomarkers (e.g. serum magnesium), sleep disordered breathing, venous thromboembolism, and the identification of risk factors for dementia. Much of... read moreDr. Lutsey’s research calls on two long term studies: The Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) Study and the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis (MESA). She also uses large administrative data sources (e.g., MarketScan, Medicare, M Health Fairview electronic health records) to evaluate the use of GLP-1’s on CVD risk, and to compare the effectiveness of new versus established treatment strategies for venous thromboembolism and atrial fibrillation.
