Prof. Anna Marie Pyle Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Yale University, USA
1 TalkBiography
Anna Marie Pyle received her PhD in Chemistry under the direction of Jacqueline K. Barton at Columbia University and went on to become Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics there. She became Professor of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry at Yale University in 2002. Dr. Pyle has been named a Searle... read moreScholar, a Beckman Young Investigator, an NSF National Young Investigator and an Irma T. Hirschl Career Scholar. Dr. Pyle uses the group II intron as a model system for studying ribozyme catalysis, RNA folding and RNA-protein interactions. She also studies the mechanisms of RNA helicase enzymes, which are molecular motors that unwind RNA and displace proteins from RNA binding sites. New computational approaches for analyzing properties of RNA have complemented this work.
