Biography

Dr. Andreas Charidimou is an Assistant Professor of Neurology at Boston University Medical Center (Boston, MA, USA). He subsequently undertook a post-doctoral fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School’s Hemorrhagic Stroke Research Program.

Dr. Charidimou’s research focuses on cerebral small vessel disease, particularly cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA), with the aim of improving diagnosis, assessing risk for hemorrhage and cognitive impairment, and incorporating novel biomarkers into clinical practice. His work also explores the intersection of CAA and Alzheimer’s disease, including the effects of emerging amyloid-targeting immunotherapies.

A recognized leader in translational stroke and dementia research, Dr. Charidimou has authored over 250 peer-reviewed publications, including landmark studies in Neurology, Stroke, JAMA Neurology, and Brain. He is frequently invited to speak at leading international conferences such as the European Stroke Organisation Conference and the International Stroke Conference.
