Biography

Professor Mark Arends trained in Medicine and Pathology (BSc(Hons), MBChB(Hons), PhD) at University of Edinburgh and became Senior Lecturer there in 1995 (MRCPath & FRCPath). He moved to University of Cambridge in 1999, becoming Reader in Histopathology. He specialised in and was lead for gastrointestinal pathology, gynaecological pathology, and genetic... read moretumour syndromes pathology at Cambridge. In 2013 he moved to University of Edinburgh as Professor of Pathology, Head of the Division of Pathology / Edinburgh Pathology and Director of the Centre for Comparative Pathology. He is currently the General Secretary and was recently the President of The Pathological Society of Great Britain and Ireland.
