Prof. Seema Bhat is a haematologist who specializes in treating patients with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL). The James is leading the race to cure CLL, and she is honoured to be a member of that team as a clinical investigator focusing on designing and leading clinical trials.

Prof. Bhat has served as a principal investigator on a number of clinical trials, and also collaborated with laboratory scientists to develop novel therapies for CLL. Her research interests include developing novel targeted therapies for the treatment of CLL with the goal of curing this disease without the need of chemotherapy. Her aim is to improve the quality of life for these patients so that they can lead a normal and productive life without enduring the toxic effects of treatment.

In addition to her clinical work, Prof. Bhat is an assistant professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology at The Ohio State University and have served on a number of national committees, including the NCCN Guidelines panels for cancer- and chemotherapy-induced anaemia, chronic lymphocytic leukaemia/small lymphocytic lymphoma and hairy cell leukaemia.
