Biography

Professor Monie attended the University of Cambridge and obtained a Bachelors Degree in Natural Sciences in 1999. He stayed at Cambridge to earn a PhD in Molecular Virology in 2002. He then moved to Imperial College London to work on structural techniques to understand protein translation initiation by viruses, before... read morereturning to Cambridge in 2006. He became an active member of a research team looking at the innate immune response with a particular focus on pattern recognition receptors. He was awarded a Wellcome Trust Career Development Fellowship. In 2016 he moved into a teaching and administrative role delivering biomedical courses for part-time undergraduate and postgraduate students at the University of Cambridge. He is know Senior Tutor of Christ’s College and maintains his interest in immune functionality.
