Michael (Mike) Maher is a Scientific Director in Discovery Biology on the Neuroscience team at Janssen Research & Development, based in La Jolla. Mike received his PhD in Physics from Cornell University in 1993, and performed postdoctoral research in neuroscience at Caltech and UC San Diego before joining the pharmaceutical... read moreindustry. His research has focused on pharmacology and biophysics of voltage- and ligand-gated ion channels. Mike has also been involved with developing and implementing novel methods, probes, and instrumentation for measurement of ion channel function. With over 20 years of experience in drug discovery, he has 45 scientific publications and 13 issued patents. He is currently the leader of the Synaptic Plasticity Group in the Neuropsychiatry Disease Area Stronghold, and is the biology project leader for the GABRA5 and CACNA1C projects.
