Prof. Allsop completed his BSc (in biology) and PhD (in biochemistry) at the University of London, King's College, UK. Since then he has been working on the role of amyloid proteins in neurodegenerative diseases, in both academia and industry, and is currently Professor of Neuroscience at Lancaster University, UK. His... read moreresearch is focused on the pathological role of misfolded proteins in Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, the prion dementias and other related disorders, and particularly on understanding how interactions between redoxactive transition metal ions and these misfolded proteins might lead to oxidative damage of the nervous system.
