David Allsop completed his BSc (in Biology) and PhD (in Biochemistry) at the University of London, King’s College, UK. He devoted his career to the role of amyloid proteins in neurodegenerative diseases, in both academia and industry and he became Chair at the Department of Neuroscience at Lancaster University, UK.... read moreHis research focused on the pathological role of misfolded proteins in Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, the prion dementias and other related disorders, and particularly on understanding how interactions between redoxactive transition metal ions and these misfolded proteins might lead to oxidative damage of the nervous system. He sadly passed away in April 2021 after a battle with cancer.
