Dr. Cohen's current research is focused on determining the structure of PrPsc, the infectious form of the prion protein, using computational and experimental biophysical methods to identify and synthesize antiprion agents. In the field of structure-based drug design, Cohen has combined computational tools with synthetic chemistry and biochemistry to accelerate the drug discovery process in parasitic diseases such as malaria and Chagas disease.
