Since retiring from his professional career in 2019, Al has been actively involved in collaborative projects with post-secondary academic institutions, training instructors and students in design thinking and entrepreneurship. He believes that everyone has the potential to be an innovator, and that innovation is a skill that can be learned and practiced. He enjoys sharing his insights and experiences with others who are interested in developing their innovative mindset and capabilities.

Al is also a co-founder of Idea Miners, a collaborative community that helps people develop and realize their ideas, whether they be for a tech startup, a social enterprise, an artistic endeavour or a community improvement project.
