Biography

Andrew R. Marks graduated from Amherst College and received his MD from Harvard Medical School. Following training in internal medicine, cardiology and molecular biology at the Massachusetts General Hospital he became Assistant Professor of Molecular Biology and Medicine then Fishberg Professor of Medicine at Mt. He is now Chair and Professor of Physiology and Cellular Biophysics at Columbia University. He is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Clinical Investigation. Dr. Marks' discovered the basis for drug-eluting stents that prevent coronary artery stent restenosis and fundamental mechanisms of and a novel therapeutic strategy for treating heart failure and fatal cardiac arrhythmias.
