Prof. Cowan is a clinician/scientist with more than 30 years experience in the diagnosis, treatment, and research relating to migraine and other headache syndromes. He founded the headache programs at Both Keck/USC and Stanford University and has published over 200 articles, abstracts, and posters on topics related to headache and facial pain and is a past-president of the Headache Cooperative of the Pacific and sits on multiple boards of directors and editorial boards in the field.
